Bonnie Smoke

Bonnie Smoke was foaled in 1981. She was a little paint mare sired by Mr Gun Smoke, and out of Ropers Calcutta. At the time, Smoky Pritchett was interested in a Mr Gun Smoke daughter. Pritchett wasn’t looking for a paint, but had been told she had the most ability. Bonnie Smoke was wild, a bronc, and hot – but also an extremely great athlete.

Bonnie Smoke proved to be an outstanding producer in the cow horse and cutting industries. She’s produced five NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Finalists, and one Reserve Open Champion. She’s produced three NRCHA Stakes Champions, one Reserve Champion, and two finalists. She’s had two NRCHA Derby Reserve Champions, and two World’s Greatest Horseman Finalists. She’s had two Hackamore Classic Champions, one Reserve Champion, two finalists, and many Bridle and Hackamore Champions.

Many of Pritchett’s wins came on the backs of Bonnie Smoke’s offspring, and he said the mare was truly a “once in a lifetime horse.”
