Reined cow horse took center stage at The Run For A Million as Erin Taormino and Hazardouz Material (Metallic Cat x Scooters Daisy Dukes x Dual Smart Rey) claimed the $250,000 Cow Horse Challenge Championship, while Landri Lisac and Lookslikelucktome (Smart Boons x Dual Lookin Pep x Dual Pep) topped the Youth Cow Horse Challenge.
Taormino piloted Hazardouz Material, owned by Linda A Mars, to a 448 composite score to secure the $250,000 Cow Horse Challenge Championship and $55,000 in earnings. The pair marked a 222 in the reined work before returning to the South Point Arena for a 226 in the cow work to take the title.
“I’ve been coming here for five years now, and I’ve been reserve and finished fifth or sixth, so to finally win this on Hazardouz Material is amazing,” Taormino shared. “I think I’m even happier for him and Miss Linda Mars than I am for myself. He’s been an incredible horse, and I couldn’t be more proud to add this win to his resume.”
Finishing as the $250,000 Cow Horse Challenge Reserve Champion was Justin Wright aboard Snapdragons (Gunnatrashya x Catnaps x High Brow Cat), owned by Snapdragons Partners. Wright and Snapdragons earned a 445 composite score (R: 223.5/C: 221.5) and $40,000.
In the Youth Cow Horse Challenge, Landri Lisac and Lookslikelucktome, owned by Timothy and Katherine Miller, rose to the top of the field with a 434.5 composite score (R: 212/C: 222.5), earning the championship and $4,000.
“It was incredible,” Lisac shared. “To end [her youth cow horse career] like that, especially ending on that run when she has already brought me so much success. She gave me my first World Championship title, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to do it on.”
Cole Hawk and Stylish Boone (Stylish Rey Gay x RS Stars N Boonlight x Boonlight Dancer), owned by Hawk Family Trust, finished as the Youth Cow Horse Challenge Reserve Champions with a 432.5 composite score (R: 214.5/C: 218) and $3,000 in earnings.
The Open Cow Horse Challenge featured 15 horse-and-rider teams competing for their share of the $250,000 purse.
