The National Reined Cow Horse Association proudly recognizes Hip Hip Sue Rey as the association’s newest NRCHA $500,000 Dam, celebrating a mare whose influence continues to shape the future of the reined cow horse industry through an exceptional group of offspring. The milestone was officially reached during the first qualifier for the 2027 The Run For A Million Cow Horse Challenge at the 2026 NRCHA MARS Equestrian™ Hackamore Classic, when One Ata Time secured the championship and pushed Hip Hip Sue Rey’s offspring earnings beyond the half-million-dollar mark.
Owned by Rocking BS Ranch and bred by Frank and Belinda Vandersloot, Hip Hip Sue Rey is a 2006 mare by Dual Rey and out of the legendary Meradas Little Sue, one of the National Cutting Horse Association’s most accomplished mares. A talented competitor in her own right, Hip Hip Sue Rey earned more than $34,000 in National Cutting Horse Association before beginning an impressive career as a producer.

Her success as a broodmare is reflected in the accomplishments of her offspring across the reined cow horse industry. Leading the way is Ricato Suave (2017 stallion by Metallic Cat), whose lifetime NRCHA earnings exceed $259,000, highlighted by an NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open Co-Reserve Championship and multiple premier event victories. Close behind is One Ata Time (2017 stallion by One Time Pepto), now surpassing $121,000 in lifetime earnings after claiming the first qualifier for the 2027 The Run For A Million Cow Horse Challenge. An additional standout performer with over $41,000 is Hippster(2019 gelding by Metallic Rebel), contributing to the mare’s remarkable legacy and demonstrating the consistency and versatility she passes on to her foals.

The NRCHA Half Million Dollar Dam designation recognizes mares whose offspring have earned more than $500,000 in NRCHA competition. Introduced in 2022, the program honors the extraordinary mares whose genetics and influence continue to elevate the sport and strengthen future generations of reined cow horses.
