NRCHA Standout Stallion, Magicality, Passes

By May 26, 2026No Comments
Magicality, the standout reined cow horse stallion whose influence extended far beyond the show pen, has been humanely euthanized following a catastrophic stall accident.

Owned by Home Ranch Performance Horses and campaigned by Gusti Buerger, the 2010 stallion by Very Smart Remedy and out of Magical Lena earned a reputation as both an elite competitor and sire whose offspring carried on his trademark athleticism, grit and cow sense.

Annie Reynolds played an important role in Magicality’s career, helping develop and showcase the stallion’s talent during his formative years in the show pen.

Reflecting on her time with him, Reynolds said, “If you ever had the privilege to ride him, train him, show him, see him shown, or just be around him, you would have been in awe. He was one of the most intelligent and athletic horses in the western performance horse industry. He was truly ‘The best horse ever.”

Magicality would go on to become the highest earning offspring out of Magical Lena, further cementing his place as one of the standout performers of his pedigree.

With lifetime earnings exceeding $197,000 and significant offspring earnings, Magicality became one of the most respected sires in the reined cow horse industry. His accomplishments included multiple NRCHA, NRHA and RCHA Open and Non-Pro Championships and Reserve Championships, as well as recognition as the 2022 EquiStat 10-Year All-Industry Horse.

Even after stepping away from his show career to focus on his role as a breeding stallion, Magicality recently returned to the show pen and immediately showed he still loved his job, delivering strong, composed performances that reflected the talent, try and trainability that defined his career from the start.

To those closest to him, however, “Ringo” was much more than statistics and accolades.

“He gave absolutely everything every time you asked,” Gusti Buerger said. “He had more heart than any horse I’ve ever been around. He changed my career, but more importantly, he changed us as people.”

Buerger and Magicality became one of the sport’s most recognizable partnerships, earning major finals appearances and championships while helping establish the performance horse program at Home Ranch. Their success together elevated not only the stallion’s legacy, but also the next generation of horses carrying his bloodlines.

Magicality’s offspring, including Quizzicality and Physicality, continued to prove his impact in the show pen with major success under Buerger’s guidance.

Magicality was considered a cornerstone of the performance horse program at Home Ranch, a horse whose presence extended from the breeding barn to the arena and throughout daily life.

“Some horses come through your barn and some leave a legacy,” Courtney McFarlane shared. “Ringo did both. He was the kind of horse who made everyone around him better.”

Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, Magicality’s influence will continue through the horses, riders and fans who were fortunate enough to witness his talent and spirit.

“He was one of a kind,” Buerger said. “And there will never be another like him.”
