By June 16, 2026No Comments

The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) will honor one rider and two horses with the honor of induction into the NRCHA Hall of Fame: champion non pro rider Laurie Richards, standout reined cow horse Smart Time Tuck, and NRCHA’s leading sire Metallic Cat. Additionally, rider and trainer Bozo Rogers will receive the association’s Vaquero Award, which recognizes contributions to the sport of reined cow horse.

Richards has more than $500,000 in NRCHA lifetime earnings. She’s a two-time NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Non Pro Champion, finished reserve at that event three times, was reserve champion at the NRCHA Stallion Stakes once, and holds many non pro bridle and bridle spectacular titles. The accomplished horsewoman resides in Paso Robles, California.

Smart Time Tuck was a 1997 gelding by Senors Lil Brudder and out of Smoke Time Tuck, by Doc Tom Tucker. He earned $150,086.78 in NRCHA competition after entering the pen 215 times and earning a check 71% of the time during his career. Some of Smart Time Tuck’s most prestigious titles include the 2002 NRCHA Hackamore Classic Open Champion, 2004 and 2005 NRCHA Open Bridle World Champion, four-time champion at the Salinas Rodeo Open Bridle class, and 2002 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open Hackamore class winner.

Known across the Western performance industry for his siring prowess, 2005 stallion Metallic Cat (High Brow Cat x Chers Shadow x Peptoboonsmal) has sired NRCHA earners of more than $9 million. He has one NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open Champion, five NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman® Champions (four of those in consecutive years), and one NRCHA Hackamore Classic Open Champion. He’s owned by Rocking P Ranch LLC and continues to build his legacy across Western performance sports.

Bozo Rogers has spent his lifetime building a successful career as a horse trainer and judge. He’s officiated every NRCHA premier event, and he’s a notable trainer and coach, giving lessons and clinics to riders around the country. His extensive ranching background led him to be a pioneer in many aspects of the evolution of versatility and ranch horse classes that are popular across the Western industry.

The NRCHA Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place during the 2027 NRCHA Stallion Stakes at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Visit nrcha.com for full event details and to buy tickets once they go on sale.
