Hackamore Classic rein work complete; Rubys Radar & Zane Davis lead Open

The first phase of National Reined Cow horse Association Hackamore Classic competition, the rein work, wrapped up under sunny skies at the the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colo., Wednesday, April 30.

Leading the field of Open contenders is Rubys Radar (One Time Pepto x Ruby Bagonia x Peppy San Badger), shown by Zane Davis, Blackfoot, Idaho, and owned by Billie Filippini. The 2010 stallion scored a 146.5.

Rubys Radar has made a big impression during his NRCHA limited age event career. Davis piloted him to a 5th place finish at the 2013 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity; and earlier this month at the NRCHA Stakes in Las Vegas, Nev., the stallion took the Open Reserve Championship.

Intermediate Open, Limited Open & Level 1 Limited OpenSadler, Texas, horseman CJ Shopbell piloted Shes Playin Rey (TR Dual Rey x Playin Acre x Playin Stylish), to a 145 in today’s rein work, earning the lead in three divisions: the Intermediate Open, Limited Open and Level 1 Limited Open.  Shes Playin Rey is a 2010 mare owned by Greg Lafitte. Open Novice Horse
Leading the Open Novice Horse division, with a 145.5, is Reys Star Cat (High Brow Cat x Reys Starlight x Grays Starlight), a 2009 gelding shown by NRCHA Two Million Dollar Rider Todd Crawford, Blanchard, Okla., and owned by Dominic Conicelli.Click here to watch the video

Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and Novice Non Pro
Riding her 2010 gelding, Cats Genuine Joker (High Rollin Cat x Zanzgenuinelighting x Genuine Doc), Karey Franz, Longmont, Colo., scored a 145 in the Hackamore Classic rein work, good for the lead in the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and Novice Non Pro divisions.

Amateur
Wolfford, Texas, horseman Parke Greeson piloted Checkn Out The Ladys (Im Countin Checks x No Lady Wood x Zack T Wood) to the lead in the Hackamore Classic Amateur division with a 142.5. Greeson and the 2010 gelding are also in second place in the Non Pro, Intermediate and Novice Non Pro divisions.Click here to watch the video
