Bet Hesa Cat

2019 – Bet Hesa Cat joins the elite ranks of National Reined Cow Horse Association of million dollar sires. The 2006 red roan stallion has sired NRCHA earners of $1,155,263.14—and counting—to rank 19th overall on the NRCHA top sires list, as of March 2020.

An earner of $267,465 in the National Cutting Horse Association, Bet Hesa Cat is by No. 1 all-time leading cutting horse sire High Brow Cat and out of the Freckles Playboy daughter Bet Yer Blue Boons. With a royal pedigree from top to bottom, Bet Hesa Cat’s dam Bet Yer Blue Boons is herself a two-time NCHA Finals Champion and NCHA Hall of Fame inductee. Her foals have earned nearly $6 million.

Bet Hesa Cat is owned by the Bet Hesa Cat Syndicate and stands at historic 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas.

“It’s extremely rewarding to witness Bet Hesa Cat achieve the $1 million mark in progeny earnings at this early point of his breeding career,” said Glenn Blodgett, DVM, manager of the 6666 Horse Division. “We try to align ourselves around the ‘all-around’ type stallions and Bet Hesa Cat really fits that role.”

One of Bet Hesa Cat’s most noted NRCHA money earner is 2017 Open Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion Plain Catty, ridden by Jake Gorrell for then owner and breeder Kevin Cantrelle. Out of the mare Miss Plain Plain by Just Plain Colonel, Plain Catty is now the property of Kalpowar Quarter Horses.

Bet He Sparks is another Bet Hesa Cat’s top earner. Bet He Sparks has numerous NRCHA wins to his credit, among them the 2019 NRCHA Hackamore Classic Open championship and 2019 NRCHA Derby Open championship. In 2017, Bet He Sparks was the NRCHA Futurity Intermediate Open Reserve Champion. The 2014 roan stallion is out of the mare Sparking Train, by Shining Spark, and is owned by K&L Phillips, LLC, and ridden by Clayton Edsall.

Bet Hesa Cat also sired the 2017 Open Snaffle Bit Futurity reserve champion Bet Hes Black, and is one of only three stallions in NRCHA history to sire horses that went on to earn the Open Snaffle Bit Futurity championship and reserve championship in the same year. Bet Hes Black, out of the mare Soula Jule Forever, by Soula Jule Star, is a 2014 stallion owned by C Ranches, Inc., and ridden by Zane Davis.
