NRCHA Opens Internship Applications for 2023 Celebration of Champions

 The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) opens internship applications for the 2023 Kalpowar Quarter Horses Celebration of Champions in Fort Worth, Texas, February 10-20.

The NRCHA is looking to fill four internship positions; Awards and Youth, Media and Marketing, Show Secretary, and Sponsorship and Special Events, for the upcoming Celebration of Champions. Each of these internships would run from February 6-20.

Awards & Youth:

The awards and youth intern will report directly to the NRCHA Sponsorship Assistant. Housing and daily stipend will be provided by NRCHA. Applicants must have their own mode of transportation to and from the facility daily.

The applicant should have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. The ability to multitask effectively is critical. Experience with event planning and youth activities is an added value to the applicant.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the awards room with organizing awards and prepping for arena awards
  • Assist with preparing locations/arenas for special events during the show
  • Assist with youth or other programs throughout the show

Media & Marketing:

The media and marketing intern will report directly to the NRCHA Media and Communications Manager. Housing and daily stipend will be provided by NRCHA. Applicants must have their own mode of transportation to and from the facility daily.

The applicant should have a good foundation in writing press releases, developing social media content, and have excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite products is preferred. Knowledge and experience with photography, creating video and graphics are an added value to the applicant.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with gathering social media story content daily
  • Assist with coordinating photo needs with NRCHA official photography team
  • Assist with signage delivery when needed
  • Organize welcome table daily & restock with magazines
  • Provide assistance at award ceremonies and gather social content
  • Review and edit scripts, newsletters and other written content as needed

Show Secretary:

The show secretary intern will report directly to the NRCHA Premier Event Manager. Housing and daily stipend will be provided by NRCHA. Applicants must have their own mode of transportation to and from the facility daily.

The applicant should be very detail oriented. The ability to multitask effectively and work in a team setting is critical. Strong customer service skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Access is an added value to the applicant.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the NRCHA Horse Show Office with exhibitor check in and check out
  • Assist in collecting score sheets
  • Provide assistance verifying scoresheets for the horse show classes, Hackamore Classic and Snaffle Bit Futurity®
  • Assist with stall and shaving reconciliation
  • Organize NRCHA welcome table and restock daily
  • Assist head scribe with any special projects
  • Assist with exhibitor bag prep/distribution
  • Verify stall counts and assignments

Sponsorship & Special Events:

The Sponsorship/Special Events intern will report to the Executive Director and the Sponsorship Assistant. Housing and daily stipend will be provided by NRCHA. Applicants must have their own mode of transportation to and from the facility daily.

The applicant should have a self-starting work ethic. The ability to work in a team setting is critical. The applicant must be a forward planner and strategic thinker. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail are required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with arena, box seat and facility signage
  • Assist with coordination of tickets for ticketed events
  • Assist with planning for special events, including coordinating with decorator, audio/visual, and catering contacts as needed to facilitate set up
  • Assist with reviewing scripting for special events
  • Provide support for awards presentations as needed, including preparing awards for arena presentations
  • Assist with miscellaneous duties as needed

Each of these internships will offer an in-depth experience into happenings and the production aspect of hosting a premier Western event. The Kalpowar Quarter Horses Celebration of Champions will crown 16 National and World Champions, along with hosting the Tres Osos Derby, and the World’s Greatest Horseman competitions.
