Weatherford, Texas—The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) congratulates Shiney Nu Annie (Shining Spark x Annies Nu Lena x Nu Cash) and her connections on joining the association’s $500,000 Dam Club. Owned by Loren Booth and bred by Carol Rose, the 2011 sorrel Quarter Horse mare has more than $100,000 in NRCHA lifetime earnings herself, placing second in the 2014 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open and winning the 2015 NRCHA Derby.
“When I had the opportunity to purchase her from Wagonhound Land & Livestock, I jumped on it,” Booth shared. “She’s such a nice mare and has produced horses that are doing really well. To own a mare like her, I was all in. She’s like a slot machine producing winner after winner. She’s good-minded and nice to be around—she’s just a dream.”
Shiney Nu Annie’s top-performing offspring include (as of November 6, 2025):
- Annies Smart Cat (2016 stallion by WR This Cats Smart): $142,592.40; 2021 NRCHA Hackamore Classic Open Champion and 2023 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Bridle Spectacular Champion
- Nu Passport (2019 stallion by WR This Cats Smart): $120,395.04; 2024 NRCHA World Championships Derby Open third place and 2024 NRCHA Hackamore Classic Champion
- The Kool Kat (2019 stallion by WR This Cats Smart): $84,715.62; 2024 NRCHA Derby Intermediate Open Champion
- Annies One Time (2016 mare by One Time Pepto): $73,800.00; 2019 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open third place
- Cats Nu Shine (2018 mare by WR This Cats Smart): $65,034.45; 2023 NRCHA Hackamore Classic Open Champion
“They’re all such little athletes,” Booth continued. And they’re all really good-minded, super feely and quiet at the same time, which isn’t a common combination.”
Booth noted that Tracer and Tricia Gilson play major roles in Shiney Nu Annie’s life as a broodmare, with Trisha running the breeding program and Tracer leading the training of the horses.
“Shiney Nu Annie’s mare power is undeniable, and we congratulate her and Loren Booth on her becoming an NRCHA $500,000 Dam,” said NRCHA Executive Director Emily Konkel. “It’s an exciting time for mares in reined cow horse, and we look forward to seeing Shiney Nu Annie’s babies in our premier events.”
