Weatherford, Texas—The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) welcomes Scooter Kat (Kit Kat Sugar x Scooters Daisy Dukes x Dial Smart Rey) to the NRCHA Million Dollar Sire list. Owned by Scooter Kat Partners (Eric Freitas, Justin Wright and Jimmy Draper), the 2015 sorrel stallion was bred by Taylor Carbo and lit up the arena with Wright in the saddle.
“This million-dollar milestone is huge for us and Scooter Kat’s breeding career,” Freitas shared. “That it’s happened in only three years makes it sweeter. I don’t want to predict when he’ll hit $5 million, but I know in my heart it’s going to happen. His sons and daughters are winning in the open and non pro with riders of different styles. These babies seem to fit many different styles of riders.”
Scooter Kat’s own impressive show record includes having won more than $675,000 in NRCHA lifetime earnings from winning events such as the 2021 The Run For A Million Cow Horse Challenge and the 2019 and 2020 NRCHA Open Stallion Stakes and taking the Open reserve title at the 2018 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity®. - Scooter Five (2020 gelding out of Kat Five): $89,343; 2025 NRCHA Kimes Ranch Derby Intermediate Non Pro Champion.
“For a horse to prove himself in the show pen like he did—to win more than any other NRCHA horse—and then go prove without a doubt that he’s a sire is a rare thing,” Freitas said. “I always believed in him, and these milestones help prove what I’ve always known.”
