NRCHA Executive Director Emily Konkel Announces Planned Transition in 2026

By March 26, 2026No Comments

The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) announced today that Executive Director Emily Konkel has informed the Board of Directors of her decision not to renew her contract, which concludes June 30, 2026.

Konkel, who has served the NRCHA in multiple roles over the past eight years, shared that the decision comes after significant thought and reflection.

“This was not an easy decision,” said Konkel. “NRCHA has meant so much to me over the past eight years, and I am incredibly grateful for the experiences, relationships, and growth I’ve gained during this time. It has truly been an honor to serve this organization and be part of such a passionate and supportive community.”

Konkel noted that her decision ultimately comes down to a desire to spend more time at home after years of extensive travel in her role.

“I want to sincerely thank our members, partners, and supporters for the trust you’ve placed in me over the years,” she continued. “Your commitment to this organization is what makes everything we do possible, and it has been a privilege to work alongside you.”

Throughout her tenure, Konkel has played a key role in strengthening the association’s premier events, expanding programs, and elevating the sport of reined cow horse within the Western performance industry.

Looking ahead, Konkel emphasized her commitment to a smooth transition and her confidence in the organization’s future.

“Over the coming months, I am fully committed to supporting the Board of Directors through a thoughtful transition,” she said. “I truly believe NRCHA is in a strong position for this next chapter, and I have full confidence in the organization’s continued growth and success.”

The NRCHA Board of Directors will begin the process of identifying the association’s next Executive Director immediately.

“The Board is grateful for Emily’s leadership and dedication to the NRCHA,” said Paul Bailey, NRCHA President. “We appreciate her commitment to ensuring a seamless transition and are confident in the stability of our staff and the continued momentum of the association.”

Applications for the NRCHA Executive Director role are currently open and will be accepted through Wednesday, April 15. For the full job description and submission information, visit NRCHA.com.
