Yesterday wrapped up another strong day of the Open Futurity herd work, the third of five total days of the herd work preliminaries. With just two more days to go, every cut counts as riders continue to battle it out before moving into the cow work preliminaries on Sunday.
Currently leading the Open Futurity composite is Bowie Nights (Metallic Rebel x Lil Bit Reckless x CD Royal), owned by Bar One Land and Cattle and shown by John Swales, with a total score of 437.5 points (R: 218.5/H: 219).
The action continues this morning in the Watt Arena with sets 25 through 33 of the Open Futurity herd work preliminaries, while the John Justin Arena hosts a full slate of Non Pro and Youth competition. Kicking off the day is the reined work for the Non Pro Boxing Futurity, followed by the reined work preliminaries for the Non Pro Futurity. Later this afternoon, the spotlight turns to the Youth Boxing competitors as they take on both the reined and cow work to close out Day Six.
