Boyd Rice Crosses Two Million in NRCHA Lifetime Earnings

By August 7, 2025No Comments

After an exciting showing in the 2025 The American Performance Horseman, National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) professional Boyd Rice officially crossed two million dollars in NRCHA lifetime earnings.

From Weatherford, Texas, Rice is a lifelong horseman who established himself as a cutting trainer before giving reined cow horse a try. His commitment to excellence in all he does led him to become one of the few professionals to hold Million Dollar Rider status in both NRCHA and the National Cutting Horse Association. Rice was inducted into the NRCHA Hall of Fame earlier this year during the CINCH Stallion Stakes, though despite earning such high honors he remains humble toward his accomplishments.

“Honestly, I can't believe I won a million more or less two, but a lot of hard work went into it and I’m trying to be a better horseman all the time,” Rice shared. “I think that's probably what got me to the $2 million mark.”

A few of Rice’s many successes include:

  • 2007 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity® Open Champion with Oh Cay N Short
  • 2014 World’s Greatest Horseman® Champion with Oh Cay N Short
  • Became an NRCHA Million Dollar Rider in 2014
  • Multiple-time finalist in all NRCHA Premier Events and earner of many World Champion titles, with many top-10 finishes

Rice’s commitment to cow horse goes beyond the arena. He’s served on the NRCHA Board of Directors and many committees to give back to the association and improve the sport as well as his own horsemanship.

“I want to just keep trying to be the best horseman I can,” Rice shared, “and hopefully keep working this hard for as long as possible.”

“Congratulations to Boyd Rice and his family on this monumental accomplishment,” commented NRCHA Executive Director Emily Konkel. “Boyd has shown commitment to his horses, our sport and our association that makes his achievement well-deserved.”
