The NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity - Better than Ever
7/28/2008
The 39th Annual National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity, slated for September 21 - October 5 in Reno, Nevada, is expected to be bigger and better than ever. The Reno Livestock Events Center will host the event, and the familiar venue should be bursting at the seams. As other NRCHA Premier events have continued with steady growth in 2008, there is little doubt that the biggest of them all – the Snaffle Bit Futurity – will follow the same trend, and that could mean upwards of 1500 horses converging on the Reno Livestock Event Center. With over $400,000 added, the Futurity and show is expected to pay out over $1.3 Million! Along with that estimated payout, exhibitors will receive a multitude of treasures. In fact, 100 beautiful Gist buckles will be awarded, along with 15 Bob’s Custom Saddles, and, for the first time, ever, a Bob’s Custom Saddle will be given to the Non Pro Limited Champion, thanks to sponsorship by the Santa Ynez Cow Horse Classic. While the in-arena action will keep fans on the edge of their seats, the National Reined Cow Horse Youth Association Two-On-Two Basketball Tournament will offer welcome entertainment just outside in the parking area. The competition will be intense and trainers and members are already planning their teams. It will all come down to the final four teams. These teams will be auctioned off in a Calcutta at the annual NRCHA Hall of Fame Banquet, with part of the Calcutta proceeds going to the Youth foundation. All the special activities give the Snaffle Bit Futurity a unique feel that makes it much more than just a horse show. Shopping is a priority for many people – and with the NRCHA Corporate Partner and NRCHA Breeder Sponsor Booths situated around the arena concourse, there will be ample opportunity to peruse and purchase. Plus, the Best of the West Trade Show will be set up in the Trade Show Hall just outside the coliseum. The large group of vendors sells everything from western décor, to clothing, to books, to tack, and trailers, plus everything else in between. And if you need a bigger ticket item – like a top bred reined cow horse – then you may just find him at the Snaffle Bit Futurity Horse Sales, held October 2-4. You don’t have to pay the big bucks to walk away with a horse or trailer. You still have a chance to win either or both for just $10 with the NRCHA Raffle Colt and Wayne Hodges 4-Star/Outlaw Conversions Trailer Raffle. The winners will be drawn during the Open Finals on Sunday, October 5. Winners need not be present to win.
